The Basic Investment Certificate (BIC)
Introduction
Developed and monitored by the Investment Accreditation Examination Board, consisting of representatives from all commercial banks in addition to representatives from Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency (SAMA) and The Institute of Banking (IOB).
Objectives
- Ensure adequate investor protection
- Enhance professionalism and ethics within the banking community
- Contribute to the growth and the development of Saudi Capital Markets
The exam covers the following topics:
- SAMA Investment Business Regulations
- Principles of Investment
- Investment Products
- Principles of Economics
Exam Information
- Consists of 100 questions
- Multiple choice type exam
- Duration is 2.5 hours
- A computer-based-test (CBT)
- Pass score is 65/100
Admission Requirements
- Exam form to be filled out by nominee
- Exam Statement form to be signed by nominee
- A clear copy of ID for Saudis and Iqama for Non-Saudis
The IOB conducts a preparation course for the (BIC): The Basic Investment Examination Preparation Course. This course is optional but highly recommended. For more Information about this course, please refer to Banking & Financial section under (Investment courses).
